Welcome to Jeffersonville Block Watch!
Thanks for visiting our site.  Our aim is to help you make your neighborhood a safer one.  Crime rates are soaring with the failing economy, it's up to us to make sure potential criminals know that we're serious about keeping our neighborhood safe for our family and friends.

There are many things we can do to keep our neighborhood safer.  It's as easy as just being aware of our daily surroundings, watching out for strangers and letting them know that we're watching for them.

If you are currently involved in a neighborhood block watch, the block watch captain, or would like to become involved, please register here on our site.  We will do our best to coonect you with your neighborhood block watch captain.

How Do I Get Started
Step 1: Contact the your local Law Enforcement Department Crime Prevention Officer - either Clark County Sheriff's Department 812-283-4471 - or Jeffersonville City Police 812-283-6633. The officer will help you get started. For example, if a Neighborhood Watch program is already established in your area, the officer will get you connected and introduce you to your neighborhood association's Neighborhood Watch Coordinator.

Step 2: The Crime Prevention Officer or the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator will personally meet with you to explain the easy set up process. At that meeting you will be given information to help you get started.

Step 3: Talk to your neighbors about the Neighborhood Watch program and explain its benefits. Use the Block List form to jot down the information for each of the interested neighbors. There are copies of the Block List in the packet you will receive. Complete the Block List with the Block Map that best depicts your area.

Step 4: With the help of your neighbors, decide the best date, time and location for your initial Neighborhood Watch meeting. At this meeting the Crime Prevention Officer will explain the program and discuss crime prevention tips and criminal trends. Take this opportunity to mention any crime-related concerns to the officer. The local law enforcement department has many additional programs that support safe and secure neighborhoods.
